Who we are

About Us

“Teachers who love teaching, teach children to love learning”. -Robert John Meehan.

Shraddhamaanu Foundation, is a Not-for-profit organisation started in 2019 with the aim of mainstreaming the marginalised women and children in both urban and rural setting through education.

OurApproach

Education is an investment

We believe investing in education is an investment for our future. What children learn today is later woven into the fabric of our society.

Learning has to be joyful

We firmly stand by the fact that, learning is permanent and effective when the process of learning is joyful. We work with schools both in the rural and urban setting, catering predominantly to First generation learners or students with very little support from their families for their education.

Focus of our Work

The focus of our work is educating and creating a nurturing and a non- threatening ecosystem within schools. The core of our work involves training and hand holding primary school educators who transform students from “passive listeners to active learners”. All this is done by a motivated team of educated, enterprising women with an insatiable thirst to create a perceptible value to the society.

What is the Issue we are trying to

According to the ASER 2017 report (in rural India)

  • About 25% of youth in the age group of 14-18 still cannot read basic text fluently in their own language
  • More than half struggle with division (3 digit by 1 digit) problems.
  • Only 53% of all 14 year-olds in the sample can read English sentences. Of those who can read English sentences, only 79% can say the meaning of the sentence

Thanks to the Right to Education Act (RTE) of 2009, near universal enrolment and automatic promotion through elementary stage have resulted in more and more children successfully completing elementary schooling. However, many children lack foundational skills.

So the issue now is not about enrolment and getting children into school but to provide them with quality education and strong foundational skills.

How are we addressing the issue?

One of the key factors is that the quality of an education system cannot exceed the quality of its teachers.

Also, one of the key issues faced by underprivileged children in both urban and rural setting is that they have very little support at home - in terms of infrastructure, peaceful learning environment and guidance.

Upasana – our training program for women helps to transform passionate women into inspiring educators who can support the children from their neighbourhood.

Vipasana - our after-school program provides a nurturing and a non- threatening ecosystem for the underprivileged children to transform from “passive listeners to active learners”.
